Doodle Road tips for three-star routes
These tips cover the 12-level draw-and-drive game on this site. Sketch a road with a mouse or finger, then select Drive it. The car follows your line automatically.
Plan before drawing
Locate the car, finish flag, and dark danger zones before you touch the board. You draw the entire route first; there is no left/right steering during the drive.
Connect the car to the flag
Begin beside the car and end beside the flag. A road that looks safe can still be rejected if either endpoint is too far away. Fix the endpoints before changing the middle.
Leave space around hazards
The whole line is checked, including the segments between drawn points. Jumping your pointer over a wall does not skip it: that connecting segment can still cross the danger zone.
Remove loops to improve your score
On a successful finish, stars depend on route length. Once you have a safe route, redraw it with fewer detours. A shorter road must still avoid every hazard and reach the flag.
How the star score works
A completed road earns three stars at a length of 100 or less, two stars above 100 and up to 125, and one star above 125. Roads longer than 160 are rejected before driving. These are game-board units, not screen pixels, so the thresholds stay the same on a phone and desktop. Finishing time does not affect the star score.
Your best score is kept for each level. Replaying a level for fewer stars does not replace a better result. There are 36 stars across 12 levels; garage cars unlock at 9, 20, and 32 total stars.
Why is my road rejected?
- “Begin closer to the little car”
- Clear the road and start your first point beside the car, rather than further down the intended route.
- “Finish your road at the flag”
- Extend the route all the way to the flag before releasing your pointer.
- “Your road crosses a danger zone”
- Move the entire line around the dark shape. Leave a margin at corners instead of tracing the boundary.
- “That road is too wiggly”
- Remove loops and unnecessary backtracking. First aim for a valid finish, then shorten the safe route for more stars.
- “Make the road less steep”
- Redraw a sudden vertical jump as a gradual curve. Avoid moving the pointer a large vertical distance in one jump.
Practice one change at a time
Use Clear road to retry the same puzzle. Map lets you return to unlocked levels. Progress is stored in this browser; clearing site data or switching devices can leave you without that saved progress.
